Lehi himself marks dependence on something 'written' that he has 'read'; he twice says the angel 'had fallen from heaven' in his own words (2 Nephi 2:17, 2:18). The distinctive prophetic 'fallen from heaven' oracle in the record is 2 Nephi 24:12 ('How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer' — the Isaiah 14:12 material, frozen in the canon at Isaiah 14:12), the written source Lehi most plausibly draws on; corpus-wide the phrase recurs only at Isaiah 14:12 and, in a different sense, Job 1:16 ('The fire of God is fallen from heaven'). Which passage Lehi means is hedged; the shared phrasing itself is the registered fact.
