The distinctive doublet 'jot and tittle' stands at exactly three places in the Nephite record: Amulek at Alma 34:13, and twice in the Lord's 3 Nephi visitation discourse (1:25, 12:18). Amulek's is the corpus's prior leg. He argues TO the fulfillment -- the great and last sacrifice will fulfill 'the law of Moses … every jot and tittle, and none shall have passed away' (Alma 34:13, running into 34:14's 'this is the whole meaning of the law, every whit pointing to that great and last sacrifice'); the risen Lord at Bountiful, having made that sacrifice, declares it accomplished in the same register and in the first person -- 'one jot nor one tittle hath not passed away from the law, but in me it hath all been fulfilled' (12:18). 12:18 anchors over 3 Nephi 1:25 for two reasons -- (1) it is the Lord's own first-person declaration of ACCOMPLISHED fulfillment ('in me it hath all been fulfilled'), the payoff of Amulek's prophecy, where 1:25 is a pre-crucifixion narrative correction stating the law is 'not yet fulfilled'; (2) tighter verbatim overlap on the pass-away element -- 12:18 'hath not passed away' shares the exact string 'passed away' with Alma 34:13 'none shall have passed away', while 1:25 has present-tense 'pass away'. The first 3 Nephi leg, 1:25: the people who erred about observing the law are corrected that 'one jot or tittle should not pass away till it should all be fulfilled' -- Amulek's own doctrinal position restated in narrative (also 'in every whit', 1:25; but 'every whit' is a common phrase, at six Book of Mormon verses -- 1 Nephi 4:19, 3 Nephi 1:20, 1:25, 8:1, Alma 34:14, Ether 15:3 -- plus five outside the record — 1 Samuel 3:18, Deuteronomy 13:16, John 7:23, John 13:10 and D&C 33:4, recounted 2026-08-10 at the D&C freeze — so not load-bearing here; the jot-and-tittle doublet itself has no D&C carrier in any variant). Not verbatim (hence shared-phrasing): the conjunction and tense differ across the three -- 'every jot and tittle' (Alma), 'one jot nor one tittle' (12:18), 'one jot or tittle' (1:25). Not a quotation of Amulek: the Lord is the phrase's source, Amulek its prophet-foreshadower; both stand in the Synoptic 'jot and tittle' register of Matthew 5:18 ('one jot or one tittle'), and 12:18 is the temple sermon's counterpart to that verse.
