The collocation 'bitter cup' occurs at exactly three places in the corpus (recounted 2026-08-10 at the D&C freeze): 3 Ne 11:11, Alma 40:26, and D&C 19:18, where the same speaker as at 3 Ne 11:11 gives his own account of drinking it — 'would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink'. Opposite subjects to the same cup: in Alma 40:26 the bitter cup is the wicked's own portion, the dregs of their evil works (the cup-of-wrath image the page already carries at Mosiah 3:26, 'the cup of the wrath of God'); in 3 Ne 11:11 the Lord has drunk the cup, 'which the Father hath given me', and the drinking is the atonement ('taking upon me the sins of the world'). The reversal of who drinks is the textual fact; the record does not claim the later verse depends on the earlier (different speakers, a generation apart).
