The record audit at 3 Nephi 23:7-13. The risen Lord calls for the record ('Bring forth the record which ye have kept', 23:7), reads it ('he cast his eyes upon them', 23:8), and finds Samuel's resurrection-sign prophecy fulfilled but unrecorded. He names the prophet and the prophecy -- 'I commanded my servant Samuel, the Lamanite… that there were many saints who should arise from the dead, and should appear unto many, and should minister unto them' (23:9) -- then asks 'How be it that ye have not written this thing, that many saints did arise and appear unto many and did minister unto them?' (23:11). 'And it came to pass that Nephi remembered that this thing had not been written' (23:12); 'Jesus commanded that it should be written; therefore it was written according as he commanded' (23:13). The prophecy audited is Samuel's at Helaman 14:25. The tightest verbal leg is the phrase 'many saints… appear unto many' -- 'appear unto many' is verbatim in 3 Nephi 23:9, 3 Nephi 23:11, and Helaman 14:25, and stands in the corpus at exactly four verses (recounted 2026-08-10 at the D&C freeze) — those three, all in this one prophecy-and-fulfillment material, and D&C 133:36, which lies outside it. Registered on the 23:11 leg (the Lord's proofreading question) rather than 23:9 (his recollection of the command). This is the corpus's most direct narration of its own record-keeping standard: the Lord himself measures the plates against a named prophecy and orders the omission repaired.
