3 Nephi 9:9 · Helaman 6:38
This connection's citations are checked against the source text.
The mark sits beside every quote a connection carries. It reports one thing: those words were found in the frozen source text at the reference this page cites, allowing only typographic differences such as curly quotes, dash forms and spacing.
It is not a tier signal, and it is not a judgment about the connection. Where a card carries the Interpretive badge, the reading is still offered with its evidence for you to weigh — the mark speaks only to the citations.
The badges and the mark are separate signals: Textual and Interpretive name the kind of claim a connection makes, while the mark reports that the connection's citations were checked.
The Lord's own voice, in the destruction inventory, names Jacobugath — 'inhabited by the people of king Jacob' (the apostate king crowned at 3 Nephi 7:9-10; not Jacob son of Lehi, not the patriarch, and Jacobugath itself is a toponym, not a person) — and singles it out as wicked 'above all the wickedness of the whole earth, because of their secret murders and combinations'. The phrase 'secret murders and combinations' stands verbatim at Helaman 6:38 (the Nephites 'come down… to join with them in their secret murders and combinations'), making this the tightest verbal contact between the 3 Nephi destruction and the Helaman charter — tighter than the 2 Nephi 9:9 root 'secret combinations of murder', where the word order differs. The trailing clause 'for it was they that did destroy the peace of my people and the government of the land' ties Jacobugath's judgment back to the order's political program (Helaman 6:39, 'the sole management of the government'; 3 Nephi 6:30, the covenant 'to destroy the governor, and to establish a king'). The full destroyed-cities inventory of 9:3-10 (Jacobugath, the city of Jacob, Kishkumen, Gadiandi, Gadiomnah, and the rest — all toponyms in the catastrophe ledger) is tabled on places-geography.md, not here.
