A prison rent in twain to free imprisoned servants of God. The bare phrase 'rent in twain' recurs in the corpus of rocks (3 Nephi 8:18; Helaman 14:22) and a temple (Helaman 10:8, conditional); applied to a prison it occurs at Alma 14:27 (the deliverance of Alma and Amulek at Ammonihah), here at 3 Nephi 28:19, and at 4 Nephi 1:30 — the same three disciples, the charter enacted. The intervening generation of the same miracle is Nephi and Lehi at Helaman 5:21-44, but there the walls trembled and did not fall (Helaman 5:27), so the rending proper is this three-point set while the pattern of miraculous prison-deliverance runs four generations.
