Ammon reads his converts as a transplanted branch of Israel; contact with Zenos's allegory is the branch/lost/nethermost motif (cf. Jacob 5:13-14, the natural branches hid in the nethermost parts of the vineyard ('nethermost part' and 'nethermost parts' both stand in Jacob 5); 5:25 'the last' planted 'in a good spot of ground'). The 'strange land' phrase is NOT Zenos's - it is the Nephite missionaries' own diction: Ammon's here at Alma 26:36 (twice - 'lost from its body in a strange land … wanderers in a strange land') and Alma's at Alma 13:23 ('our being wanderers in a strange land'). Ammon names no allegory. The verbally stronger grafting contact, Alma 16:17 'grafted into the true vine' vs Jacob 5:8 / 1 Nephi 15:16, is NOT Ammon material and is not registered here.
