INTERPRETIVE. The father's dream (ch. 8) and the son's vision (chs. 11-14) read as a deliberately paired structure: Nephi desires 'to behold the things which my father saw' (11:3), and the angel then decodes Lehi's symbols one at a time (rows dream-tree, dream-rod, dream-river, dream-building). The individual symbol-glosses are textual; but they occupy only a handful of verses, while most of chs. 11-14 is new material unrelated to Lehi's dream (Christ's life, Nephi's seed, the two churches, John). The larger claim that the vision DELIBERATELY decodes the dream — rather than incorporating a brief symbol-key within a much larger revelation — is the interpretive layer, offered for weighing, not asserted as the text's settled intent.
