D&C 27:2 · Matthew 26:28
This connection's citations are checked against the source text.
The mark sits beside every quote a connection carries. It reports one thing: those words were found in the frozen source text at the reference this page cites, allowing only typographic differences such as curly quotes, dash forms and spacing.
It is not a tier signal, and it is not a judgment about the connection. Where a card carries the Interpretive badge, the reading is still offered with its evidence for you to weigh — the mark speaks only to the citations.
The badges and the mark are separate signals: Textual and Interpretive name the kind of claim a connection makes, while the mark reports that the connection's citations were checked.
Both verses are the Lord's first-person speech about the cup. Divergences reported, not graded: the revelation's verb is past ('was shed') where the Gospel's is present ('is shed'); the Gospel's 'for many' has no counterpart in the revelation and the revelation's 'your sins' none in the Gospel; the Gospel attaches the new-testament clause, which the revelation does not carry. Matthew 26:28 is paired rather than any other institution account because it is the uniquely nearest verse: across the whole frozen corpus only four verses carry both 'shed' and 'remission' - these two, Hebrews 9:22, and Moroni 10:33 - and of those four only these two speak the words over the emblems. The corpus's other institution accounts drop the remission clause entirely: Mark 14:24 reads 'which is shed for many', Luke 22:20 'which is shed for you', and 3 Nephi 18:11 'in remembrance of my blood, which I have shed for you'. Counts are of distinct frozen verses in the corpus, derived by search at the time of writing.
