Alma 13:7 · Hebrews 7:3
This connection's citations are checked against the source text.
The mark sits beside every quote a connection carries. It reports one thing: those words were found in the frozen source text at the reference this page cites, allowing only typographic differences such as curly quotes, dash forms and spacing.
It is not a tier signal, and it is not a judgment about the connection. Where a card carries the Interpretive badge, the reading is still offered with its evidence for you to weigh — the mark speaks only to the citations.
The badges and the mark are separate signals: Textual and Interpretive name the kind of claim a connection makes, while the mark reports that the connection's citations were checked.
Alma's high-priesthood-after-the-order teaching shares Hebrews 7:3's distinctive kernel 'beginning of days' + a no-beginning/no-end priesthood-eternity structure. Referent differs, reported as a fact: Hebrews 7:3 predicates it of Melchizedek personally ('having neither beginning of days, nor end of life'); Alma 13:7 (and 13:9) predicates it of the order / the Son ('without beginning of days or end of years'). Variant reported, not scored: Hebrews reads 'end of life', Alma 'end of years'. DISTRIBUTION: 'beginning of days' stands at exactly SEVEN corpus loci (recounted 2026-08-10 at the D&C freeze) -- Alma 13:7, Alma 13:9, Hebrews 7:3, Moses 1:3, Moses 6:67, D&C 78:16 and D&C 84:17 (case-insensitive substring, whole corpus; the Moses pair is the PoGP lane's, noted not claimed here). The two new loci bear on the variant reported above rather than only on the tally: D&C 84:17 reads 'without beginning of days or end of years', Alma's wording and predicated of the priesthood as Alma 13:7 predicates it of the order, while D&C 78:16 reads 'who is without beginning of days or end of life', Hebrews' wording — so the corpus now carries a witness on each side of the end-of-years / end-of-life variant. PROVENANCE HONESTY: the Melchizedek matter Alma actually carries -- king of Salem (Alma 13:17-18) and Abraham's tithe (13:15) -- is the Genesis 14 account both texts draw on; Hebrews carries MORE of Genesis 14 than Alma does ('priest of the most high God' and the blessing, Genesis 14:18-19 = Hebrews 7:1 -- neither stands anywhere in Alma 13; 'most high' and 'bless' each zero hits there, verified by search). The priest-for-ever formula is Psalms 110:4's ('a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek'), which Hebrews quotes in its own spelling ('for ever after the order of Melchisedec' -- Hebrews 5:6, 6:20, 7:17, 7:21; the KJV splits the name, Melchizedek in the OT and Melchisedec in Hebrews) and Alma recasts as 'after the order of his Son'. This record rests ONLY on 'beginning of days' joined to an end-of-years (Alma) / end-of-life (Hebrews) clause — Hebrews-7-distinctive and appears in neither Genesis 14 nor Psalm 110. Class (c): Alma names no source for the doctrine ('the scriptures are before you', Alma 13:20), the corpus gives no account connecting it to Hebrews, and the origin of the correspondence is outside this wiki's scope.
