Samuel: "your houses shall be left unto you desolate" (Helaman 15:1); Jesus: "your house is left unto you desolate" (Matthew 23:38) — two shifts, number (houses/house) and tense ("shall be left"/"is left"). The phrase also stands at Luke 13:35 (Matthew's wording exactly) and, partially, Joseph Smith—Matthew 1:2 ("They shall be thrown down, and left unto you desolate" — no "house"; the referent is the temple buildings). The shorter "left desolate" occurs at Alma 16:10, 3 Nephi 4:1, and 3 Nephi 8:14 and is not claimed as part of this family.
