The exact phrase 'buried their weapons of war' occurs at exactly two loci in the corpus (Alma 26:32 and Helaman 15:9; Alma 24:19's 'buried their weapons of peace, or they buried the weapons of war' is the near-neighbor variant, not the exact string). Ammon (Alma 26:32) uses it of the people of Ammon themselves, the founding group. Samuel the Lamanite (Helaman 15:9) uses it of the converted Lamanites of his OWN day -- the antecedent 'they' is set by Helaman 15:4-8, 'the Lamanites… the more part of them are in the path of their duty… who do add to their numbers daily', NOT the original people of Ammon. So this is the SAME buried-weapons practice recurring among a LATER converted group, not a recall of the same people: the verbal contact is a textual fact; that the two groups perform one continuous covenant is the interpretive layer. Shared beyond the phrase: the same logic of non-resistance ('rather sacrifice their lives' / 'they will suffer themselves that they be trodden down and slain'). Divergence: Ammon adds 'deep in the earth… because of their love towards their brethren'; Samuel adds 'they fear to take them up… because of their faith in Christ.' Alma 24:18 reads 'they never would use weapons again for the shedding of man's blood' -- NOT the 'buried their weapons of war' string. Alma 26:32 is the tightest verbal match, so it is the anchor.
