Interpretive: Mormon's editorial thesis (12:1, the Lord prospers those who trust in him) read as the law the narrative enacts -- the inverse case at 4:13, where pride's 'boastings in their own strength' issues in being 'left in their own strength' and 'therefore they did not prosper' (prosper/not-prosper and trust-in-him/own-strength are the verbal hinge). The 'own strength' element is a genuine internal phrasing chain (textual core): 4:13 'boastings in their own strength… left in their own strength' and 16:15 'depend upon their own strength and upon their own wisdom'; far end is Mosiah 11:19 'they did boast in their own strength' (live id mos-riches-boast, registered interpretive). What is offered to weigh, not asserted: that 4:13 is a deliberate enactment of the 12:1 thesis -- the abridgment's law-and-instance design is a reading.
