Helaman 15:14 · Helaman 7:23
This connection's citations are checked against the source text.
The mark sits beside every quote a connection carries. It reports one thing: those words were found in the frozen source text at the reference this page cites, allowing only typographic differences such as curly quotes, dash forms and spacing.
It is not a tier signal, and it is not a judgment about the connection. Where a card carries the Interpretive badge, the reading is still offered with its evidence for you to weigh — the mark speaks only to the citations.
The badges and the mark are separate signals: Textual and Interpretive name the kind of claim a connection makes, while the mark reports that the connection's citations were checked.
The comparative-judgment formula — 15:14 'it shall be better for them than for you except ye repent', 7:23 'it shall be better for the Lamanites than for you except ye shall repent' — occurs in the corpus only at these two verses. The book's two prophetic voices share it: Nephi son of Helaman from the garden tower (7:23, of the Lamanites) and Samuel from the wall (15:14, with 'them' = the Lamanites of his preceding verses). Near-verbatim; Nephi names 'the Lamanites' where Samuel, mid-sermon, says 'them,' and Nephi reads 'ye shall repent' for Samuel's 'ye repent.' This is the corpus's OWN internal version of the comparative-judgment form. The 'more tolerable' family stays at zero in Helaman; word-bounded it stands at nine frozen-corpus verses (recounted 2026-08-10 at the D&C freeze) — Alma 9:15 (carrying it twice), Alma 9:23 ('far more tolerable for the Lamanites'), the six Synoptic carriers Matthew 10:15, 11:22, 11:24, Mark 6:11, Luke 10:12, 10:14, and D&C 75:22 ('more tolerable for the heathen in the day of judgment') — not registered here. The two-verse comparative formula above is unmoved by the freeze.
