Jacob's mercy-conditional -- 'where there is no law given there is no punishment … no condemnation … the mercies of the Holy One of Israel have claim upon them, because of the atonement' (2 Nephi 9:25) -- is applied by MORMON, in his epistle to Moroni (Moroni 8:1, 'An epistle of my father Mormon'), to infants and 'all they that are without the law': 'the power of redemption cometh on all them that have no law' (8:22). 'no condemnation' occurs at exactly two verses in the record -- 2 Nephi 9:25 and Moroni 8:22 (the string appears twice inside 9:25's sorites and once in 8:22 as 'under no condemnation'); corpus-wide it stands at eight verses (recounted 2026-08-10 at the D&C freeze) — the two record verses, the frozen Romans 8:1 ('no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus'), and D&C 23:1, 23:3, 23:4, 23:5 (the four 'under no condemnation' declarations to named men) and 63:64 — so the collocation is no longer corpus-unique to the record and the shared sorites, not the phrase's rarity, is what the pairing now rests on. Both verses also run the same no-law-therefore-no-consequence sorites form. The type is shared-phrasing on the corpus-unique 'no condemnation' collocation plus the shared sorites; the wording is not verbatim-identical across the ends (Jacob 'where there is no law given', Mormon 'them that have no law').
