Narrative-continuity link across the gap between Moroni's two pen-takings, in the same first-person voice: Mormon 8:3 leaves his own survival an open question ('whether they will slay me, I know not'); Moroni 1:1 resumes and answers it ('I have not as yet perished; and I make not myself known to the Lamanites lest they should destroy me'). The lone-survivor condition of Mormon 8:3 ('I even remain alone') continues into the wandering fugitive of Moroni 1:3 ('I wander whithersoever I can for the safety of mine own life'). No distinctive shared PHRASE joins the two verses — the honest tier is paraphrase / narrative-continuity (the later verse presupposing and resolving the earlier), which sits near the textual/interpretive boundary. Registered textual-paraphrase on the strength of same-voice continuity; a skeptic could push it toward interpretive-thematic.
