The exceptive formula — 11:23 'none shall deliver them, except it be the Lord', 23:23 'none could deliver them but the Lord', 24:21 'none could deliver them except it were the Lord their God' — naming 'the Lord' as the excepted deliverer, occurs at exactly these three verses in the corpus; Alma 36:2 carries the same frame under the patriarchal title, 'none could deliver them except it was the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'; the bare 'none shall deliver', unexcepted, also stands at 2 Nephi 15:29 (= Isaiah 5:29) and Hosea 2:10. Divergences: 'none shall deliver' (future) becomes 'none could deliver' (past); 'the Lord the Almighty God' becomes 'the Lord their God'.
