The counsel is verbatim, but in 3 Nephi 13:25 it is preceded within the same verse by a narrative aside directing it to the twelve: 'he looked upon the twelve whom he had chosen, and said unto them: Remember the words which I have spoken. For behold, ye are they whom I have chosen to minister unto this people.' Matthew 6:25 addresses the multitude undivided. The audience returns to the multitude at 3 Nephi 14:1 ('turned again to the multitude').
