Identity, offered to weigh. The messenger who keeps and delivers the gold plates names himself 'Moroni' (Joseph Smith—History 1:33) and describes the book as 'an account of the former inhabitants of this continent' (1:34). In the Book of Mormon, Moroni is the record's final writer, who 'will write and hide up the records in the earth' (Mormon 8:4) and is 'the same who hideth up this record unto the Lord' (Mormon 8:14). Name and role align (the one who hid the record delivers it); the account states the name and role but does not in so many words equate the two figures. Interpretive.
