Both writers follow 'wise purpose' with the same resolution: writer's ignorance answered by 'the Lord knoweth all things' + a 'wherefore, he…' clause of divine working. The phrase 'knoweth all things': six hits in the record — 1 Ne 9:6, 2 Ne 2:24, 2 Ne 9:20, Alma 7:13, WoM 1:7, Mormon 8:17 (Moroni 7:22's 'knowing all things' is the participial variant, outside the exact string). Six further corpus occurrences fall outside the record (recounted 2026-08-10 at the D&C freeze): 1 John 3:20 (New Testament), Moses 6:61 (Pearl of Great Price — already frozen when this note was first written, so its omission was a miss of the record's own neighbours, not of the later Old/New Testament expansion), and D&C 35:19, 38:2, 42:17, 93:28, of which 38:2 states it as a divine self-predication, 'The same which knoweth all things, for all things are present before mine eyes'. Only at 1 Ne 9:6 and WoM 1:7 does the phrase answer a record-keeper's unknown wise purpose.
