The mark sits beside every quote a connection carries. It reports one thing: those words were found in the frozen source text at the reference this page cites, allowing only typographic differences such as curly quotes, dash forms and spacing.
It is not a tier signal, and it is not a judgment about the connection. Where a card carries the Interpretive badge, the reading is still offered with its evidence for you to weigh — the mark speaks only to the citations.
The badges and the mark are separate signals: Textual and Interpretive name the kind of claim a connection makes, while the mark reports that the connection's citations were checked.
Moroni supplies the procedure that produces the erasure — three witnesses, condemnation before the elders, a chance to repent — where the revelation states only the bookkeeping consequence of expulsion; the revelation names the book, 'the general church record of names', which Moroni does not. D&C 20:80 defers the discipline itself to the scriptures.
