Both verses name David and Solomon and both use 'many wives and concubines'; the two verses state opposite verdicts on the same fact - 'abominable before me, saith the Lord' against 'in nothing did they sin save in those things which they received not of me'. D&C 132:39 narrows the revelation's verdict in David's case. Whether the two can be reconciled - and the sermon's own conditional at Jacob 2:30 - is an interpretive question the wiki does not settle.
