The revelation's preposition differs from every other carrier's and the difference is countable: 'a light unto the Gentiles' stands at exactly one distinct frozen verse in the corpus, D&C 86:11, and 'a light to the Gentiles' at exactly two, Isaiah 49:6 and its rendering in the record at 1 Nephi 21:6. The larger divergence is what the light is for: the prophecy's servant is a light and salvation to the end of the earth, and the revelation's hearers are a light to the Gentiles and a savior to Israel, the two beneficiaries named separately and given different roles.
