The discourse's second statement of the lion figure, and the nearer of the two to Micah 5:8 -- which is why it is registered as its own verse-pair rather than folded into 3ne-cov-micah-lion-20-16. Three differences between the two Bountiful statements make the point, each a textual fact: (1) 21:12 keeps Micah's third-person frame ('my people who are a remnant of Jacob shall be' against Micah's 'And the remnant of Jacob shall be') where 20:16 turns it to second person ('Then shall ye, who are a remnant of the house of Jacob'); (2) 21:12 sets Micah's two locative clauses contiguously and names the Gentiles in them -- 'shall be among the Gentiles, yea, in the midst of them' against Micah's 'shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people' -- where 20:16 separates them, leaves the Gentiles unnamed at that point (the antecedent is one verse earlier at 20:15) and reads 'in the midst of them who shall be many'; (3) 21:12 reads 'if he go through' with Micah, where 20:16 reads 'goeth'. Registering only one of the two would hide which is the closer match. COUNTS (rule: distinct frozen verses in the corpus per R2-Q36; comma-tolerant per R2-Q32): the exact string 'remnant of Jacob' stands at eight corpus verses -- 2 Nephi 20:21, 3 Nephi 21:12, 3 Nephi 21:22, 3 Nephi 21:23, D&C 52:2, Isaiah 10:21, Micah 5:7, Micah 5:8 (D&C 52:2 joined the field at the D&C freeze; recounted 2026-08-11 at the corpus-figure sweep); 'none can deliver' at exactly three -- 3 Nephi 20:16, 3 Nephi 21:12, Micah 5:8. ATTRIBUTION -- UNATTRIBUTED: as with the 20:16 record, the record never names Micah and the discourse gives the words to the Father, so this record asserts the verbal correspondence only; the quotation question is weighed on the page, not settled here. asserted_by is absent (= wiki). NOTE ON OVERLAP: 3 Nephi 21:12 is also the far end of morm-cov-lion-among-gentiles (Mormon 5:24 <-> 3 Nephi 21:12), which registers a different verse-pair and a different observation -- Mormon turning the discourse's promise-image back on the Gentiles as warning.
