3 Nephi 19:25 · Helaman 5:36
This connection's citations are checked against the source text.
The mark sits beside every quote a connection carries. It reports one thing: those words were found in the frozen source text at the reference this page cites, allowing only typographic differences such as curly quotes, dash forms and spacing.
It is not a tier signal, and it is not a judgment about the connection. Where a card carries the Interpretive badge, the reading is still offered with its evidence for you to weigh — the mark speaks only to the citations.
The badges and the mark are separate signals: Textual and Interpretive name the kind of claim a connection makes, while the mark reports that the connection's citations were checked.
The shining-face transfiguration chain's third scene. The face/countenance + shine collocation occurs in the record ONLY at Mosiah 13:5, Helaman 5:36, and 3 Nephi 19:25 (the wider corpus carries the collocation beyond the record — 'his face did shine as the sun', Matthew 17:2; Moses' shining face, Exodus 34:29-35) (at 19:25 the 'shine' verb attaches to JESUS's countenance shining upon the disciples - 'the light of his countenance did shine upon them' - while the disciples' own transformation term is 'white'; the mortal-face shine loci proper are Mosiah 13:5 and Helaman 5:36, and 19:25 joins the chain as the whiteness-transfiguration scene) (1 Nephi 1:9's 'luster' is the descending divine being, not a transfigured mortal; every other 'shine' is metaphorical light or 'shine forth in the kingdom'). First leg = Mosiah 13:5 (Abinadi: 'his face shone with exceeding luster, even as Moses' did while in the mount of Sinai'). The tightest verbal skeleton -- [face] + shine/shone + exceeding(ly) + 'even as' [glorified standard] -- binds Mosiah 13:5 and Helaman 5:36; 3 Nephi 19:25 shares the rare face+shine collocation and the comparison structure while shifting the key transformation term to 'white', and the comparison recurs in tightest form at 19:30 ('white, even as Jesus'). The escalation of the standard is a textual observation: Moses -> the faces of angels -> Jesus himself. The superlative 'there could be nothing upon earth so white as the whiteness thereof' is in 19:25 (not 19:30); 19:30 reads 'they were white, even as Jesus.'.
