The golden-age church 'did not walk any more after the performances and ordinances of the law of Moses' (4 Nephi 1:12) -- read as the community living out the risen Lord's declaration at Bountiful that 'the law which was given unto Moses hath an end in me' (3 Nephi 15:8). Among 3 Nephi 15:4-8, the far end is 15:8. It is the only verse in that span that BOTH names 'the law which was given unto Moses' (matching 4 Nephi 1:12's 'law of Moses') AND states its termination ('hath an end in me', matching the church ceasing to walk after it). 15:4 names the Mosaic law and calls it 'fulfilled' but lacks the finality of 'end'; 15:5 says the law 'hath an end' but calls it 'the law', not 'the law … given unto Moses'. Why interpretive, not textual: the only verbatim overlap is the law's common name — 4 Nephi 1:12's 'law of Moses', 3 Nephi 15:8's 'the law which was given unto Moses', and 4 Nephi 1:12 carries NO explicit fulfillment marker (unlike narrator-declared fulfillments such as Mormon 1:19's 'even unto the fulfilling of … Samuel'); so reading the practice AS the enactment of the 3 Nephi 15 declaration is a reader-weighed inference, grounded in same-community continuity (the Bountiful church of 3 Nephi persists into 4 Nephi).
