Helaman 8:21 · Omni 1:15
This connection's citations are checked against the source text.
The mark sits beside every quote a connection carries. It reports one thing: those words were found in the frozen source text at the reference this page cites, allowing only typographic differences such as curly quotes, dash forms and spacing.
It is not a tier signal, and it is not a judgment about the connection. Where a card carries the Interpretive badge, the reading is still offered with its evidence for you to weigh — the mark speaks only to the citations.
The badges and the mark are separate signals: Textual and Interpretive name the kind of claim a connection makes, while the mark reports that the connection's citations were checked.
A long-standing flag closed: Helaman 8:21 finally supplies the identity behind the people Omni 1:15 says "came out from Jerusalem at the time that Zedekiah, king of Judah, was carried away captive into Babylon." Nephi (son of Helaman) names the survivor and the line: "the sons of Zedekiah were not slain, all except it were Mulek… the seed of Zedekiah are with us, and they were driven out of the land of Jerusalem" (Helaman 8:21). The link is propositional, not verbal — the two verses share no distinctive phrase; what Helaman 8:21 adds is the named survivor (Mulek) and the royal lineage for a people Omni dated only by Zedekiah's captivity. Disclose the two supporting verses: (a) the name Mulek first occurs at Mosiah 25:2, where Zarahemla is called "a descendant of Mulek" (the lineage fact, no origin); (b) Helaman 6:10 gives the geography and divine agency — "the land north was called Mulek, which was after the son of Zedekiah; for the Lord did bring Mulek into the land north, and Lehi into the land south" — and is the first verse to name Mulek a "son of Zedekiah". Distribution: "Mulek" as a person occurs at exactly three verses — Mosiah 25:2, Helaman 6:10, Helaman 8:21; the twelve Alma occurrences (Alma 51:26; 52:2,16,17,19,20,22,26,28,34; 53:2,6) and Helaman 5:15 are all the place-name "city of Mulek," not the man. The son/sons/seed-of-Zedekiah family occurs at two verses in the record — Helaman 6:10, 8:21; corpus-wide the frozen Old Testament adds the slaying event Helaman 8:21 argues from — "the sons of Zedekiah" slain at 2 Kings 25:7, Jeremiah 39:6, and 52:10 (five corpus). GUARD: the Coriantumr who leads the Lamanite host against Zarahemla at Helaman 1:15 ("a descendant of Zarahemla… a dissenter from among the Nephites") is NOT the Jaredite survivor Coriantumr of Omni 1:21 — distinct men, distinct centuries; state the distinctness wherever the Helaman-1 Coriantumr is named on the page.
