Samuel the Lamanite independently re-issues the sign the record attributes to Zenos: 'three days' of darkness as the sign of the Redeemer's death. Shared element: the three-days-darkness death-sign ('for the space of three days' at Helaman 14:20 = 'the three days of darkness' at 1 Nephi 19:10), not a verbatim sentence — Samuel describes the phenomenon (sun/moon/stars darkened) where Zenos is cited only for the bare sign. Significance the book itself stages: this same book has just reported that Zenos 'was slain' for that testimony (Helaman 8:19, the slain-record above), so a Lamanite prophet re-utters the slain prophet's sign. Helaman 14:27 restates the same span ('darkness should cover the face of the whole earth for the space of three days'); 14:20 chosen as the tightest single-verse host.
