THE CLOCK'S FINAL READING. Samuel fixed a four-hundred-years deadline from the wall ('four hundred years pass not away save the sword of justice falleth upon this people', Helaman 13:5). Moroni reads that clock out twice at the record's end -- both times in his own hand, since Mormon 8 is Moroni finishing his father's book ('I, Moroni, do finish the record of my father, Mormon', Mormon 8:1). First at the expiry: 'four hundred years have passed away since the coming of our Lord and Savior' (Mormon 8:6, already registered as morm-samuel-four-hundred-years, Mormon 8:6 <-> Helaman 13:5). Then, sealing his own book last of all: 'more than four hundred and twenty years have passed away since the sign was given of the coming of Christ' (Moroni 10:1) -- the corpus's LAST dated verse, advancing the clock past 420. DATUM DIFFERENCE (textual fact, survives a reading of the corpus): Moroni 10:1 dates from 'the sign… of the coming of Christ' (the birth-sign, 3 Nephi 1) while Mormon 8:6 dates from 'the coming of our Lord and Savior' -- two different anchor events, ~20+ years apart in the reading. TYPE = shared-phrasing: distinctive contiguous runs span both ends -- 'years have passed away' (verbatim in both) and 'the coming of' (verbatim in both), around the shared 'four hundred' dating root; this matches the typing of the sibling record morm-samuel-four-hundred-years (also shared-phrasing on the four-hundred-years formula). 'four hundred and twenty' occurs at exactly ONE verse -- Moroni 10:1 (unique; the corpus's last dated verse). 'four hundred years' occurs at four verses -- Alma 45:10, Helaman 13:5, 13:9, Mormon 8:6 (Moroni 10:1 is NOT in this set: it reads 'four hundred and twenty'). 'years have passed away' occurs at three verses -- Mormon 8:6, Moroni 9:12 ('only a few years have passed away', different subject), Moroni 10:1. NO VERSE-PAIR COLLISION: Mormon 8:6 is already an endpoint in morm-samuel-four-hundred-years (Mormon 8:6 <-> Helaman 13:5), but the PAIR Moroni 10:1 <-> Mormon 8:6 is unique; no existing record touches Moroni 10:1.
