The four-hundred-years clock read out. Samuel set the span from the wall -- 'four hundred years pass not away save the sword of justice falleth upon this people' (Helaman 13:5), re-uttered four verses later ('four hundred years shall not pass away before I will cause that they shall be smitten', Helaman 13:9); Moroni closes the record on the deadline -- 'four hundred years have passed away since the coming of our Lord and Savior' (Mormon 8:6). Shared distinctive phrase: 'four hundred years', which occurs at exactly four verses in the record -- Alma 45:10, Helaman 13:5, Helaman 13:9, Mormon 8:6; corpus-wide the frozen Genesis 15:13 and Acts 7:6 (the Abrahamic bondage prophecy) carry it too (six in all). This record STANDS ON ITS OWN LEGS: it is NOT routed through hel-samuel-sword-of-justice, whose far-end is Alma 60:29 (a 'sword of justice' phrase link, Captain Moroni's war epistle), NOT the clock anchor. The same span was uttered independently and sealed by Alma the Younger: 'in four hundred years from the time that Jesus Christ shall manifest himself unto them, shall dwindle in unbelief' (Alma 45:10) -- two independent utterances of one span, hosted with its extinction record alma-extinction-dwindle (interpretive tier) on alma-the-younger.md; the fourth-generation frame is 3 Nephi 27:32 (interpretive, messiah.md).
