Internal pair within the angel's discourse: the verb 'atoneth' occurs at three verses in the corpus - Mosiah 3:11, 3:16, Alma 42:15; the two Mosiah occurrences take blood as subject (Alma 42:15 takes 'God himself') and both bind the atonement to the fall of Adam for the non-culpable classes (the ignorant dead, 3:11; little children, 3:16). The phrase 'the atoning blood' occurs at this discourse and its echo (3:18; 4:2) and once more at Helaman 5:9. The culpable are excluded in the adjacent verse (3:12).
