The letter names the writer and the reference before quoting - 'John the Revelator was contemplating this very subject in relation to the dead, when he declared, as you will find recorded in Revelation 20:12' - and then reproduces the verse entire. The only divergences across the whole verse are three of pointing: the older text's colons after 'opened', 'the book of life', and 'God' are semicolons here. D&C 127 and D&C 128 frame themselves as letters in a human first person, not as divine addresses; the letter-writer is not named in the verse text.
