The Abrahamic covenant promise appears verbatim in both of Nephi's expository summaries. 15:18: 'which covenant the Lord made to our father Abraham, saying: In thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.' 22:9: 'unto the making known of the covenants of the Father of heaven unto Abraham, saying: In thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.' The quoted clause is word-for-word identical. 15:18 closes Nephi's explanation of Lehi's olive-tree teaching; 22:9 anchors Nephi's explanation of the 'marvelous work' among the Gentiles after the Isaiah reading. Together they bracket the two great expository sections of the book (chs. 15 and 22).
