Moroni traces the order Jared's daughter revives back past every Nephite instance to the devil, in the exact terms Jacob had used generations earlier: Ether 8:25 calls the builder-up 'that same liar who beguiled our first parents', and Jacob (2 Nephi 9:9) names 'that being who beguiled our first parents … stirreth up the children of men unto secret combinations of murder'. The distinctive shared phrase is 'beguiled our first parents': it stands verbatim at exactly two verses -- 2 Nephi 9:9 and Ether 8:25 -- with Abinadi's variant 'did beguile our first parents' at Mosiah 16:3 making three corpus loci for the motif, already registered in the beguiled-parents chain (mos-abinadi-beguiled-parents, mos-abinadi-old-serpent). The middle leg is hel-sc-first-parents (Helaman 6:26 <-> 2 Nephi 9:9), which unpacks Jacob's single verse into the genealogy first parents -> Cain -> tower -> Gadianton -> 'author of all sin'. Ether 8 supplies that genealogy's Cain link at its own head: 8:15 has Akish administer 'the oaths which were given by them of old … handed down even from Cain, who was a murderer from the beginning' -- and 'murderer from the beginning' is unique in the record to Ether 8:15 (corpus-wide the frozen New Testament adds John 8:44, Christ's words of the devil), while Cain himself is named at exactly two verses in the record (Helaman 6:27 and Ether 8:15); corpus-wide he pervades the frozen Genesis 4-5 and Moses 5-7 accounts.
