The 'few plates' Mormon keeps back from the Cumorah deposit and gives to his son Moroni (Mormon 6:6, which also says 'I made this record out of the plates of Nephi') are the small plates he describes finding and appending in the Words of Mormon: 'I found these plates, which contained this small account of the prophets, from Jacob down to the reign of this king Benjamin, and also many of the words of Nephi' (Words of Mormon 1:3), which 'I chose… to finish my record upon them' (Words of Mormon 1:5). Registered THEMATIC/interpretive: the text does not explicitly equate the 'few plates' of 6:6 with the small plates of Words of Mormon 1:3; the identification rests on referent (the discrete small-plates object, 'small account' ~ 'few plates') and shared context ('the plates of Nephi' at both), not on a distinctive shared phrase. Anchor is Words of Mormon 1:3 rather than 1:5 on two grounds: (1) verbal — 'these plates, which contained this small account' is the tighter echo of 'these few plates' than 1:5's 'I chose these things'; (2) non-collision — Words of Mormon 1:5 is already a doubly-registered endpoint on its 'hundredth part' clause (sb-mormon-hundredth: WoM 1:5 <-> Jacob 3:13; 3ne-mormon-hundredth: 3 Nephi 26:6 <-> WoM 1:5), so 1:3 is the fully-unregistered anchor.
