The far end is 3 Nephi 28:7 -- the promise itself, 'ye shall never taste of death' -- NOT 28:19 (the prison-deliverance, a distinct event already carried by eth-faith-litany-prison and 3ne-three-prison-rent). Ether 12:17 indexes the PROMISE, which originates at 28:7. Shared-phrasing, not paraphrase -- both ends carry the distinctive contiguous string 'taste of death', a phrase confined in the record to the three-disciples material (FIVE verses: 3 Nephi 28:7; 28:25; 28:37; 28:38; Ether 12:17); corpus-wide the frozen New Testament carries 'taste of death' at Matthew 16:28, Mark 9:1, Luke 9:27, and John 8:52, and the Doctrine and Covenants at 42:46, 'those that die in me shall not taste of death, for it shall be sweet unto them' (ten in all; recounted 2026-08-10 at the D&C freeze). The record-scoped confinement to the three-disciples material is unmoved. This is a stronger footing than the sibling far-end record morm-doc-commission-tarry (Mormon 9:22 <-> 3 Nephi 28:7), which is typed paraphrase because 28:7 does not contain its anchor word 'tarry'; here both ends share 'taste of death'. Ether names the three ONLY here -- Moroni cites their promise in his faith-index; Ether's other 'disciples' references (4:10 'my disciples'; 12:31 'thy disciples,' the twelve at the visitation) are not the three-who-tarry. Ether narrates nothing of the three (they postdate the Jaredite record); they appear only in Moroni's editorial litany.
