The two grants share the terminus (the Lord's coming in glory), the address 'my beloved' for the same figure, and the ground — a desire to keep bringing souls. 3 Nephi 28:6 makes the identification of the desire itself ('ye have desired the thing which John, my beloved… desired of me'), which is a textual fact. What is offered to weigh is the further step: that the exchange narrated at D&C 7:1-3 IS the occasion 3 Nephi refers to.
